It makes me think of Greg saying Sarah was like his younger sister, and he would refer to Netunessa as his former sister, despite hitting on her/creeping on her.
For years he’s said he made up the word “Onision” with the meaning:
“Oni” - one
“sion” - divine community.
I always thought Onichan either was, like you said, a play on Onii-Chan or it’s a throw back to his old nick name. Back in like 2010,11-ish his forum members used to call him “Oni”, so I’m sure at some point he’s been called Oni-chan on there.
